Ride Out 05:15
I have the patience of a Saint, but I don't have time to wait You have the manners of a child, always running wild. Your friends are sleeping rough, living on the streets They're all waiting for their man, I know he's not selling sweets. Do you think it's safe for me to be out here tonight? Do you think it's safe for me to ride out here tonight? Playing music in your car, and I think I like your taste I'd put my hand upon your knee, but you know that isn't me Do you think it's safe for me to be out here tonight? Do you think it's safe for me to ride out here tonight? I try to get you all alone, but you turn me down again You say it's really far too cold, and you've had enough of men Do you think it's safe for me to be out here tonight? Do you think it's safe for me to ride out here tonight?

The light catches the water, we're in a different quarter. The city's looking fine and so are you. The water's up to the waist line, the city's shutters are calling time but I've got time to spare and so have you. I feel the winter wind it cuts through my veins, you're wearing extra layers but feel just the same. We're like lambs to the slaughter, It's coming over the border. I'll save what I can and so should you. The water's up to the wasteline, the city's shutters are calling time, I'm glad I found some time to be with you. I feel the winter wind it cuts through my veins, you look a different way but feel just the same. I'm reading news reports, they've downed another plane. So give me a corner of the room to go insane The light catches the water, we're in a different quarter. The city's looking fine and so are you. I feel the winter wind it cuts through my veins, you look a different way but feel just the same. I'm reading news reports, about how we'll change So give me a corner of the room and 'll stay sane. .

Clock on the wall says it's over, head says it's time to go Some things can't be done over, some things will never grow Some things in life are for mending, and some for just letting go Clock on the wall says it's over, but I'm not inclined to go I'd like to stay a bit longer, you make me feel as though Life has a habit of stopping, just for the time you're near I'm alive again, I don't want to let this go Let this feeling go Man in the taxi's a racist, it's too late to stop the car I tell him to keep his thoughts private, I don't even know where we are. I'd like to do something about it, I wish I could change the world But some times you just have to let that feeling go Let that feeling go You passed right out tonight, and my job is to protect you, and that's why I'm going to have to Let this feeling go

Happy to be back now, doing my favourite thing again. Crossing the country, watching from the window of my train. You sit across from me, reading something written by Genet, I'd like to talk to you but what is there that I could possibly say? The train stops at stations, people getting on and off. I watch in consternation, hoping nothing violent will kick off. Somebody asks me when to get off, I say when the train comes to a halt. I'm getting restless now, I need to get away fro the crowd. What did you say - you'd like to hide away? You grab your book, we'll make our way to the buffet Where you can explain the story of your life but don't ask me to tell you mine.. 400 miles north of Carlisle where the trains come to a halt, we're getting on a boat, to take us even further from our homes. I like to watch the sea, I like to sea the sun shine on the waves. I think I'm falling in love, I've got a taste for the wildlife and the spray. What did you say - you'd like to hide away? You grab your book, we'll walk over to the cafe Where you can explain the story of your life but don't ask me to tell you mine.. Let's get away from here.

So come and sit round your tables, you can discuss after dinner, how to kick the disabled, turn it into a winner. Well if you're tired and you're hungry, fallen out with your parents, living on next to nothing - they're gonna make all the difference. You made me homeless, you and your kind, why oh why are you so blind? We see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, but they don't see a problem - these things they don't really matter You made me homeless, you and your kind, why oh why are you so blind? When you take away support from the young and the vulnerable - I hope it comes back to haunt you - did you give it a second thought, did you give me a second thought? I hope it comes back to haunt you. So come and sit round your tables, ave a cigar after dinner, enjoy the comforts of home..

Rattled round this empty house for fifteen years we've shared the pain of the drunken man below. You taught me everything I know, been like a father to me, now you say it's time to go. Said that you'd be moving on, jumping on that train to Stardom, I'll be left behind. You cannot live here anymore, there's better out there that's for sure - but I'm nothing on my own. The girl from down the road that I choose to be with every night, she takes away the pain. We wonder round these empty streets, talk about what's wrong and right, but it's really not the same. Put your bottle in your bag, told them you would be right back, it was hours before they noticed you were gone. Took the train to Parkway station, London's heart your destination, now I hope you're doing fine. The buses and the trains taking you away from me. You're living day to day, no food no electricity. Well I hope you find that place is everything you want, everything you need? Your records were my guiding light, I have listened every night - my education is complete. Got my suitcase by the door, because I can't take it any more, I know you'll understand. Got my bottle in my bag, I told them I would be right back - it'll be some time before they know I'm gone. So now I've said all I can say, nothing's getting in my way - I'm on that train and gone.

I remember you telling me about an encounter on a train. Your hands they were trembling, your eyes they were doing the same. Oh oh oh Well maybe I don't want to know about the weird things you've done, but I see that it means a lot so I guess I'll let it run. Oh oh oh So will you vote for me on Super Tuesday when the time comes round again?

It's all been done before, it's all been heard before, but home on the range, I'm well out of range, yes I'm well out of range. It's all been said before, it's all been seen before, but home on the range I'm well out of range, yes I'm well out of range. Ba ba ba You've heard it all before, they've said it all before, but home on the range, you're well out of range, you think you're well out of range Ba ba ba It's all been done before, It's all been said before, It's all been done before, it's all been done before.

I've been down this road and I won't go back. I have been the carthorse and I won't do that. I have dreams and they still belong to me. You can't take them from me - apparently. Oh I realise it's a fact of life All the lights from the street tonight they are calling me to come down It is getting harder to make a stand. I am sorely tempted to form a protest band. There is genuine and there is fake, sometimes I just which I could stay awake. Oh I realise it's a fact of life All the lights from the street tonight they are calling me to come down All the lights they're just satellites, they're just helping me to get home People living in this southern town they can turn a smile upside down. There have been those times when I've been blessed and I refuse to end up like all the rest. Oh I realise it's a fact of life All the times I have tried my best, never once to succeed. I've been down this road and I won't go back. I have been the carthorse and I won't do that.

She doesn't need a lot to live her life, she doesn't see the value in endless strife. She just needs enough to sing and play her guitar. She reads about her heroes in magazines and meets them all in her endless dreams but she needs to be careful of the things she's wishing for. Because nothing is ever quite what it seems, she's just another girl with a broken dream, she's just another who'll never find her dream. She's rushing to get across town today because her father needs her to pay her way but her thoughts are all of notes and rhymes and words. The job they give her is checking tills and they tell her it's better than taking pills but within a week it's still driving her insane. And nothing is ever quite what it seems and no one is ever fulfilling their dreams so they drink until they're sick on Saturdays. All the passion in this girl, all the wonder in her dreams, they will shake her til she can't remember. All the fire in her heart all the stories she could tell, they will crush her til she can't remember. She's rushing to get across town today because her father needs her to pay her way, and he's got problems that she really can't imagine. He's up to his neck in his gambling debts, her dog needs another visit to the vets. He tries to explain but she'll never understand.. Why nothing can ever be what it seems, she's just another girl who's chasing her dream. she's just another girl who'll never find her dream.

about

The Charlie Tipper Rebellion (aka Arrest! Charlie Tipper) Bristol, UK

The band began life as The Charlie Tipper Experiment in 2013, releasing an album and a clutch of singles for Breaking Down Recordings.

In 2015 the band became The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy for no real reason other than they thought it would be a good idea to keep people guessing as to what they were up to.

This happened again in December 2017 when the band became Arrest! Charlie Tipper..
